Gustave SERRURIER-BOVY (1858-1910). Mahogany and brass secre - Lot 31
Gustave SERRURIER-BOVY (1858-1910). Mahogany and brass secretary desk, circa 1898. This piece, which has never before been seen, resembles the so-called “Cabinet de travail” models, particularly in its use of Art Nouveau hardware with curved lines and its flared legs. The feet on this piece follow the same design as those on the “Cabinet de travail” chairs, which were presented at the 1896 Exhibition of the Société nationale des beaux-arts in Paris. See: Françoise Bigot du Mesnil Buisson, Etienne du Mesnil Buisson, Serrurier-Bovy, a Pioneering Designer, Paris, Éditions Faton, 2008, p. 111. Height: 75 cm. Dimensions: 100 x 53.5 cm.
