A late 18th/early 19th-century chess set of 32 pieces, entir - Lot 376
A late 18th/early 19th-century chess set of 32 pieces, entirely carved from bone. Each side is distinguished by a natural ivory and black hue. The figures (kings, queens, bishops, knights, rooks, and pawns) are sculpted in the round, with particular attention paid to the ornamentation. The marquetry chessboard is typical of a piece made between 1780 and 1830.
