Eugène Désiré PIRON (1875-1928). Antique figure playing the flute. Bronze sculpture with brown patina. Beautiful base enriched with grimacing masks and interlacing. The faun and the young girl are recurrent themes for the artist. However, the subject presented here is extremely rare in his repertoire. The Pierre Kjellberg encyclopedia mentions a series of five small statuettes entitled Faunesses Dansant sold at Hôtel Drouot on December 19, 1986 in room 7. Although masculine, our subject, fixed on a simple, round, unworked base, can be found in this selection sold in 1986. Height: 70 cm.
