Tibet - China.Gilded bronze depicting the Buddha seated in v - Lot 53
Tibet - China.Gilded bronze depicting the Buddha seated in vajrasana, hands clasped in dhyana-mudra (meditation gesture). It rests on a wide, lotiform base richly carved with foliage and stylized petals. An archaizing work inspired by Nepalese sculpture of the Licchavi period, illustrating the persistence of classical models in Tibetan art. Height: 18.5 cm. Cabinet Ansas-Papillon-de Léry, Paris.
