André HALLET (1890-1959). Binder comprising an important lot of original sketches and gouaches by the artist André HALLET as well as old documentation including: 1) Works by André Hallet: - 20 watercolor studies related to the theme "Belgian Congo - Collection la Vache Qui Rit", unsigned, they bear numerous annotations in pencil and are titled on the back (Le coup de lance, Nègre préparant un piège, babouins, Le bœuf tué par un fauve etc etc...). Dimensions: +/- 18 x 21 cm. - A gouache signed Hallet depicting pelicans by the river (12 x 28 cm). - A small signed gouache depicting an African hunter watching a young gorilla (14 x 14 cm). - A signed ink depicting a swan on the river (19 x 24 cm). - A female portrait in pencil and pastel, signed (35 x 26 cm, thumbtack holes, small lack). - A signed black mixed technique depicting a river at a lock (46 x 55 cm, folds, undulations). - A signed black felt-tip pen depicting two cyclists on a tandem (31 x 39 cm). - An oil on panel depicting a musician, signed on the back and annotated Louvain Tony Claus 1927 (44 x 38 cm). - A signed gouache representing a study for Philips radios (30 x 19 cm). - A gouache signed and dated 1916, titled "Palais des sports de Liège 1916 et dédiée à l'œuvre des diners économiques" (33 x 25 cm, creases, small tears, missing). 2) Attributed works: - An African woman and her child in unsigned gouache (60 x 48 cm, folds, tear). - An unsigned pastel depicting a faun playing the panpipes surrounded by antelopes and pink flamingos (34 x 47 cm, thumbtack holes, small snags). -An unsigned mixed technique depicting an allegory of a winged woman in an urban landscape (60 x 49 cm). - An unsigned mixed technique depicting the artist's son, unsigned pencil sketch of a portrait (20.5 x 18.5 cm). 3) Anonymous works by third-party artists, both before and after the artist: - A set of 10 unsigned pencil caricatures by an unknown author, depicting 19th-century celebrities, not related to André Hallet's work. - 4 unsigned pencil sketches, author unknown. - 3 mixed techniques (collage and gouache) with subjects of airplanes and a truck (unsigned, Studio Vinci brand) - A batch of three anonymous gouaches, studies for the New Year in unsigned gouache. 4) Documentation: -An André Hallet poster for the Rouge-Cloitre art center. - Four newspaper clippings from the 1920s containing articles dedicated to the artist.
