Alfred BOUCHER (1850-1934). - Lot 193
Alfred BOUCHER (1850-1934).
Florentine sculptor's head
Marble bas-relief, signed.
Height: 29 cm, Width: 27 cm, Depth: 16 cm.
In 1883, during his stay in Florence (1882 to 1884),
Alfred Boucher creates a Florentine Sculptor,
listed under No. A 20 in the catalogue raisonné
of Alfred Boucher's work published by Jacques
Piette in 2014. This sculpture recalls the Singer
Florentin of 1865 by his master and friend Paul Dubois.
The marble version, of the head alone in bas-relief,
that we present here is not listed in the
catalogue raisonné and is to be compared with the many
variations, marble bas-reliefs, which Alfred Boucher
will carry out or have carried out by its practitioners later,
in particular from the models of Diana, Volubilis
or the Kiss.
Expert and file: Cabinet Maréchaux. Paris.
Provenance: Belgian private collection.
Informative note study: The family told us that originally this marble, as well as the second one presented under lot 197, was part of a private French collection located in Nogent sur Seine.
