Pair of colored marble marquetry plaques decorated with coat - Lot 96

Pair of colored marble marquetry plaques decorated with coats of arms, half-parted, 1 gules with six gold pine cones set in an orle; 2 fessed argent and sable framed by olive branches in a raised frame. Italy, 16th century. (minor accidents). Dimensions: 64 x 33 x 7 cm. These speaking coats of arms are probably those of the alliance of a member of the eminent Pinelli family ("pine cones" in Italian) who held important positions in Genoa, Naples and Venice and then in Spain. It is unfortunately difficult to determine the allied family whose coat of arms "fessed argent and sable" are very widespread.
