Siam, Ayutthaya school 16th-17th century Important bronze Bu - Lot 43
Siam, Ayutthaya school 16th-17th century Important bronze Buddha, headless, with beautiful patina, depicted standing in abhaya-mudra (gesture of fearlessness), wearing monastic robes. This bronze sculpture reveals a powerful image, emblematic of the remains of ancient Buddhist civilizations. Despite the absence of a head, the Buddha retains all his spirituality, reminding us of the essence of Buddhism that goes beyond the physical, visible form. A similar complete model, dated 1541, is in the National Museum in Bangkok. Total height including base: 240 cm. Expert : Cabinet Ansas-Papillon-Léry, Paris.
