Line VAUTRIN (1913-1997). Attributed to "Bouquet". Brass brooch with small green talosel pellets. Unsigned. Height: 6 cm. Expert : Cabinet Marcilhac, Paris. Line Vautrin, an artist born in 1913, left school at 15 and completed her first creations by the age of 21. She sold her first works door-to-door... She was unveiled in 1937 at the Universal Exhibition, where she occupied a stand. In 1939, she exhibited compacts, blush boxes and pillboxes at the Salon des Artistes Décorateurs. By 1940, she had made a name for herself. She excelled in the creation of small feminine objects in Talosel, and in the creation of witch mirrors, which are now highly prized on the international market. In 1986-1987, she put part of her collection up for sale, notably to British gallery owner David Gill. In 1992, she was awarded the Prix National des Métiers d'Art for her research into decorative techniques. She died suddenly of heart failure on April 12, 1997, two years before her retrospective at the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
