Terracotta plaque representing a nereid sitting on foliage and holding a strap in her hands. Lombardy, Cremona, Palazzo Trecchi, Agostino de' Fondulis, end of the 15th century. Height: 40 cm – Width: 25 cm On a wooden support. (Small accidents). Identical panels can be seen in a terracotta frieze at the Civiche Raccolte of the Sforza Castle in Milan (fig). This frieze depicting tritons, nereids and centaurs belonging to the Bossi collection originally decorated the facade of the Trecchi Palace in Cremona. This palace, built by Giacomo Trecchi in 1494, was completely transformed during the 18th and 19th centuries. Agostino de Fondulis, architect and sculptor, was active in Milan from 1483 to 1522.
