Jean LAMOUR. Collection of locksmith works, that Stanislas the Benefactor, king of Poland, duke of Lorraine and Bar, had installed on the royal square of Nancy. FIRST EDITION OF ONE OF THE MOST BEAUTIFUL FRENCH IRONWORK BOOKS, DEDICATED TO THE ROYAL SQUARE OF NANCY. The twenty magnificent plates it contains, in the first edition, describe the railings, balconies, stringers, ramps, copings, pilasters and other ironworks made by Jean Lamour, Stanislas Leszczynski's locksmith, on the Place Royale (now Place Stanislas) and in other places in Nancy. The first plate, dedicated to the entrance gates of the square, consists of five folded panels and the last two plates are double. These plates, engraved after Jean Lamour's drawings by Nancy artists Dominique Collin and Nicole père et fils, are preceded by a title-frontispiece, a dedication to the Duke of Lorraine embellished with a vignette by Girardet and an apologetic Preliminary on the forge printed in two columns in civil type. Handwritten captions from the period, probably due to the author or the publisher. Faded boards, spine missing, some soiling and staining. De twintig prachtige platen die het bevat, in eerste druk, beschrijven de balustrades, balkons, slib, hellingen, kronen, pilasters en ander ijzerwerk gemaakt door Jean Lamour, de slotenmaker van Stanislas Leszczynski, op de Place Royale (nu Place Stanislas) en in andere plaatsen in Nancy. De eerste plank, gewijd aan de toegangspoorten van het plein, bestaat uit vijf gevouwen luiken en de laatste twee planken zijn dubbel. Deze platen, gegraveerd naar de tekeningen van Jean Lamour door de Nancy-kunstenaars Dominique Collin en Nicole vader en zoon, worden voorafgegaan door een frontispice van de titel, een opdracht aan de hertog van Lotharingen verfraaid met een vignet van Girardet en 'an Apologetic Preliminary on the Forge gedrukt in twee kolommen in beleefdheidskarakters. Handgeschreven legendes uit die tijd, waarschijnlijk dankzij de auteur of de uitgever. Vervaagd karton, ontbrekende rug, wat vuil en vlekken.
