Fernand Allard L'olivier (1883-1933)
Fernand ALLARD L' OLIVIER (1883-1933). Africanist study in pencil located in the Congo in 1927-28. From a series of three drawings. They have been seen and authenticated by Mrs Geneviève Allard, granddaughter of the painter and author of the documentary site linked to the artist (http://fernand-allard-lolivier.be). Mrs. Allard is also the author with Mr. Pierre Peeters of the book "Fernand Allard-L'olivier. De Tournai à Yanonge" published by Wapica. She recognizes the technique notably at the level of the hands (comparison made with a preparatory sketch of the witch of Usumbura reproduced in the work). Nevertheless the signature appearing on our three sketches are later and not from the hand of the artist. According to Mrs. Allard the three drawings are indeed the work of Falo (Allard the Olive Tree) but the signatures are probably in the hand of his wife who authenticated several unsigned works after his death. Dimensions : 26 x 36 cm.
